I'm not sure if it's due to changing precipitation levels or food sources, but, Heppler's Ponds is sometimes a hit or miss birding site for me. A great place for you to visit in early spring up in northern Utah is the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Area. It will not be a waste of your time! Little did I know how cool this western Refuge in northern Utah of wetlands bordered with snowy mountaintops would be. Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge was full of migratory birds and even some other interesting mammal wildlife.
